Mercedes A-Service vs B-Service: what each includes in KSA.

What the dashboard message actually means, what each service contains, what drives the price — and the questions that keep the invoice honest.

Your Mercedes just displayed “Service A due” — or B — and the first quote you got felt like a car payment. Before you approve anything, it is worth two minutes to understand what these services actually are, because the A/B system is simple, logical, and frequently used to pad invoices in ways Mercedes never wrote down.

The system in one paragraph

Modern Mercedes-Benz models alternate two scheduled services, tracked by the car itself (ASSYST PLUS). The A-Service is the lighter one — think of it as the annual essential service. The B-Service is the deeper one that alternates with it. The car counts kilometres and time (typically yearly intervals, KSA driving usually hits the distance first) and tells you which is due. A then B, then A again — for the life of the car.

What the A-Service includes

Engine oil and filter with a Mercedes-approved specification, all fluid levels checked and corrected, tyre inspection with pressure correction, brake check, dashboard and lighting check, and the maintenance counter reset. It is genuinely a smaller service — if a workshop quotes A-Service money that looks like an engine-out job, ask for the item list.

What the B-Service adds

Everything in the A-Service, plus the cabin dust filter, a deeper multi-point inspection of steering, suspension and driveline, and brake-fluid assessment (fluid replacement runs on its own two-year clock and lands in whichever service it coincides with). On specific mileages, additional items join by schedule — air filters, spark plugs, transmission service — for your exact engine, not as blanket add-ons.

What actually drives the cost in Saudi Arabia

Four things: oil quantity (a C200 takes far less than an S500 — oil is the biggest single line on an A-Service), parts choice (genuine versus quality OEM filters), scheduled extras that happen to fall on your interval (plugs, brake fluid, transmission service — legitimate when they match the schedule for your mileage), and where you service (dealership overheads versus a specialist workshop doing the same sheet). The scope should be identical wherever you go: the manufacturer wrote it down.

Three questions that keep any quote honest

Ask for the itemised list matched to your model and mileage; ask which items are schedule-required now versus recommended; and ask what oil specification will be used. A good workshop answers all three in writing without friction — at EuroHub the itemised WhatsApp estimate is the answer, sent before you approve anything.

Skipping it is the expensive option

In Jeddah heat, stretched oil intervals age engines fast, and a missing service history quietly cuts thousands off resale value. The A/B rhythm exists because it works: small, regular, documented services instead of large, irregular repairs.

If the dashboard is showing a service due, send the message and your mileage to us on WhatsApp — we will reply with exactly what your interval includes and an itemised price for it: Mercedes service in Jeddah.
